 San Vito Lo Capo

Ancient fishing village, nowadays San Vito Lo Capo is one of the most beautiful beaches of western Sicily. The ancient town of seafaring tradition, has developed around the ancient Saracen fortress, later turned into a shrine dedicated to San Vito.

At St. Crescentia and St. Vitus, the legend attributes the task of founding the country: the two saints would, however, had to live on one condition: they should not turn their backs  to look back on the way. St. Crescentia, came near the place where now stands a chapel dedicated to her (pilgrimage of people who have suffered a strong shock (“I pigghiati ‘i scantu”), she turned and became Stone, San Vito, however, he completed the mission which had been entrusted, and fouded the town.

The climate, the beach, the sea, the streets decorated with flowers, fresh fish, the intense scents and the breathtaking views offer to visitors the opportunity for an unforgettable holiday. On the territory of San Vito Lo Capo stans one of the most beautiful nature reserves and most renowned of the Mediterranean area: The Natural Reserve of Zingaro, asses coves reached by winding paths that run along over the sea, is also home to a museum of  prehistoricals artifacts, found thanks to the excavations, documenting the oldest settlements in the area.
